I'm exhausted.
Usually this is a bad thing, but in the case of Chromacon it's an exception to the rule. Once again this bi-annual festival managed to impress / inspire / amaze people with the diversity of creative talent it amassed over a sunny April weekend in Auckland. I feel like the good weather always helps contribute to the all around good vibes too. It was awful leading up to the event, but for the weekend it turned out beautifully. Couldn't ask for better.
Not that I saw it. As I joked with Alan, the festival director, we (artists who participated) all basically live in our own little caves creating our own little worlds. Sunlight is a rare thing for us. We upgraded our caves for a very large very communal cave. Also devoid of sunlight. I wouldn't have had it any other way.
Auckland once again showed up. I was able to debut my new comic Pizza Sneakers there. People seemed to delight in the concept of Pizza Sneakers itself, and generally had nice things to say to me all weekend. On top of that I got to talk to old friends, meet some new cool creative people and pick up some new swag.
If there was a let down it was that I only had a meager budget and therefore couldn't purchase some really cool art I was keen to own.
Too much fun. Counting down for the next one.
Thanks to Alan and Team Chroma for all their hard work.
